Born from electronic beats and friendships, Bear Colony was incepted in late 2005.
Initially designed to be a recording summer camp, for all involved, it quickly became more. Songs piled up, recordings were made, and the culmination of a years work was released as We Came Here To Die, a collection of songs that mixed colorful textures of electronic beats, acoustic guitars, lo-fi production and a willingness to approach music in a different manner than most involved had been previously accustomed.
The band's efforts were received with fond reviews and many fans began to join in with the Bear Colony vision. Shows were played, and before long, the band looked back and found itself with over two years of touring time under it's belt. Having shared the stage with the likes of Lovedrug, Snowden, Brandston, The Myriad, Plain White T's, Ours, Dignan, Look Mexico, Colour Revolt, Manchester Orchestra, The New Frontiers, mewithoutYou and more, the band returned home to begin writing their sophomore release.
In Spring of 2009, Bear Colony booked time in Norman, OK with Chad Copelin at Blackwatch Studios and began recording what would become All At Once, a collection of songs introducing newest members Patrick Ryan and Dave Huff to the fold.
For this record the drum machines were discarded and many live elements were sampled to get the vision across, making for a warmer sound that allows the music to move and breathe freely. The textures that colored WCHTD are still prevalent in the new record, but one can sense a step forward in maturity that has grown over the last two years of settling into a solid line-up, and touring the country.
All At Once is slated for a fall release followed by steady touring.
